Tattoo removal | The challenge
The effectiveness of laser tattoo removal treatment is often limited by the lengthy process, typically requiring over 10 sessions, which can extend up to three years for complete tattoo removal.
The Solution - ARWT
When used in conjunction with the Q-Switch laser during a multi-pass laser tattoo removal treatment, this approach enables multiple passes in a single session (the equivalent to 2 sessions in 1 treatment), leading to reduced formation of cavitation bubbles and vacuoles within the epidermis and dermis, which occur due to the rapid heating of tattoo particles by the laser during the tattoo removal process.
What is acoustic wave-assisted multi-pass tattoo removal?
Most tattoo-removal appointments involve a laser treatment followed by time for your skin to recover and your body to continue clearing fragmented ink.
But in certain cases, I can use acoustic wave technology between laser passes, allowing me to perform more than one laser pass during the same appointment.
Here’s how it works:
1. First laser pass
The Q-switched laser delivers energy that is absorbed by tattoo pigment, helping fragment the ink into smaller particles.
2. Frosting occurs
Immediately after the laser passes over the tattoo, you’ll often see temporary white “frosting.” This is a normal, short-lived reaction caused by rapid changes within the treated tissue and can interfere with performing another laser pass right away.
3. Acoustic wave treatment
Acoustic wave technology is applied to the treated area between passes. It can help clear that temporary whitening more quickly, making another laser pass possible during the same treatment visit.
4. An additional laser pass
When appropriate, I can then perform another Q-switched laser pass during that same appointment.
Does that mean two passes automatically equal two treatments? No.
I don't want to market multi-pass treatment as “two sessions in one” because your body still needs time after treatment to process fragmented pigment and your skin still needs time to recover.
At De-Ink’d by Brandy, I also don't automatically start everyone with multi-pass treatments. I typically consider this option around the third treatment or later, after I've seen how your tattoo and skin respond.
More isn't automatically better. The goal is the right treatment at the right time for your tattoo.
Frequantly Asked Questions
Is tattoo removal painful?
Sure is. But the good news is, it only hurts while receiving the procedure. I can sell you some topical numbing or ProNox if needed. I will work with your comfort levels to help you through the process.
Will I have a scar?
I use micro-needling or CO2 Laser with my Laser tattoo removal and done correctly and properly cared for shouldn't leave a scar of the tattoo. But there is always a risk of scaring.
How long will it take?
Appointments usually take 10 minutes for a small tattoo, depending on the size of your tattoo and the placement.
The first appointment will take the longest, due to receiving after care products and instructions.
The bigger the tattoo the longer it takes.
In the beginning the treatments go faster because the spot size is larger, the sessions take longer when the spot size is smaller.
Larger spot size = Less energy
Smaller spot size = More energy

I offer laser tattoo removal, micro-needling and CO2 to help break up the scar tissue for even better results.
This also includes removal of ink from micro-bladed eyebrows.
What is aftercare?
When you come into your visit, you will receive a goodie bag that has everything you need to take care of your tattoo removal. I am always available in case you have any questions. I believe that we are doing this as a team, therefore you are never alone in the process!
With that being said 20% of the responsibility is mine to properly preform the treatment and educate you on proper after care. 80% of the responsibility is yours to follow the after care instruction and care for your tattoo.
Can a tattoo just be faded?
Yes, I can fade your tattoo. If you are wanting a "cover up" you will get a better outcome if you fade it first.
Your artist will also be able to give you a tattoo that is not so saturated in ink and will have more detail.
